National origin discrimination is a form of discrimination that occurs when someone is treated unfairly because of their country of origin, ancestry, or ethnicity. In the United States, national origin discrimination is prohibited by the Fair Housing Act

The Fair Housing Act is a federal law that prohibits discrimination in housing based on several protected classes, including race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability.

If you follow my posts, you know that I’m a civil rights lawyer. Most times, I represent people with disabilities, as they are the victims of most of the discrimination in housing and public accommodations.

I frequently get calls from people with disabilities in Florida asking for help because their housing provider refuses to provide a reasonable accommodation or a reasonable modification.  What’s the difference between an accommodation or modification?

“Source of income discrimination” involves a landlord refusing to rent to a housing applicant because of the person’s lawful source of income they will use to pay the rent.
